Is it supppose to be this tough?
« on: March 09, 2005, 03:03:10 PM »
 Went out for the yodle pups this am.  Lots of singing and none came near.  We (t/c 223) my son and I howled and they sang but ZIP!

Any ideas for this tough time of the year??

Most of the young and dumb dogs have been shot, trapped, or hit by cars this late in the season.  What is left is the older and educated yotes.  Might want to try staying on stand longer and use a decoy.  some of the educated dogs will approach the sound very cautiously and stay concealed in cover until the last minute, waiting to see the source of the sound.  Sometimes I stay on stand as much as 45 minutes.
It's all a hot mess...........

Yup.  If it wasn't, everyone would be doing it.....Plus, there wouldn't be any coyotes to hunt.

This time of year is really tough.  Just keep trying.  If they were howling back at you, I would guess that you had a couple of them sneak in and scent you.

Sounds like you did what I would have done by howling and singing back to them.  Sometimes it just doesn't work out.
You haven't hunted......Until you've hunted the hunters
