New 223 in da house!
« on: March 04, 2005, 06:20:29 PM »
Saving up my money, I went and got something new today. :-D  Got a 223 and had a 4-12x40 Red Head scope mounted. Also picked up 2 boxes of win. 55 grain psp for 10.00 dollars a box. :sniper: I originally was going to get a hornet , but Larry said they didn't have one so I opted for the 223. It came with the shooting rail. I'm going to the range hopefully soon to get this gun sighted in. I hope this will be the last one for a while. . Man, got this one home and finally decided that maybe I need a bigger gun vault. Yeah, that's it , I need to get another gun vault!I sure hope this one shoots as good as the rest of my handi's. Hellacatcher, hope to get to the range this summer, and see how you like this one to shoot. The scope on it, I believe you could probably see percy priest lake from the range. :toast:  :D  :D

 If your .223 handi shoots as good as mine your going to be thrilled with it.  I've only hade mine about a month and I'm having a ball gettin it sighted in as tight as I can.  So far my best shot was a jackrabbit at about 130 yards and he was running away.  CAUTION!   I was shooting cheap ammo (Wolf) in it and it wouldn't eject the fired casing sometimes.  I had to make a ramrod from a .22 cal. cleaning rod to get them out.  I hope this will keep you from making my mistake.  It's more fun making your own. :)  :gun4:

Come on--you going to have good time with the 223 I am taking mine to the range today to try out a new scope if the weather holds that is. You can always keep a eye out for a hornet, which is a fine fun gun. :D

I've been using a bull barrel .223 for the last few years as my primary calling gun and its great. You need to try the win. whitebox 45grn. Hp. varmint loads from wal-mart. They run around $ 12.00 for a box of 40 and shoot 3 in nickel at 100yds. with my gun. If you hunt coyotes they are fine except on shoulder shots but as long as you put it in the boiler room they won't get far. Mine really loves slightly hot loaded 50grn. V-Max . I haven't lost a coyote with this load.

Well, in the next few hrs. me and my bud, Emily will be off to the range. I just cleaned it and man was it dirty!  I'm taking the rem 511 (.22) for her to have something to do while her ole man gets the 223 sighted in . She's more excited than me about the range tomorrow, well I mean today. And I feel like a kid that woke up too early CHRISTmas morning. This will probably the last one for me for a while  NOT! But I do need to get a bigger gun vault though. And I won't be satisfied til I get the 22 Hornet :toast:    :yeah:

Congrats Tommy.
I hope your 223 likes those Winchester 55gr ammo better than mine.
Have fun.  :-)
