Replacement Walnut stock for Marlin 336 lever action rifle

Hi:

  Does anyone know if there is a company that sells replacement walnut stocks for the Marlin 336 lever action rifle? Is it difficult to remove the stock on the rifle?

Most stock makers will make a sock for the 336.  They will require fitting.  Some of them are Boyds, GreatAmericanGunstocks, and Wenigs(in Lincoln Missouri).  I'm prejudiced but the folks at Wenigs are great. It's fairly easy to remove. I've included a parts diagram for reference.

Hi:

  I just checked out GREAT AMERICAN GUNSTOCKS. They are EXPENSIVE!!! :eek:  $400.00 for the top of the line stock for a Marlin Model 60 ! :shock:  :shock:  I  did not know they cost that much. Just would like a little better grade of wood than what usually comes on the rifle.

'Top of the Line' is a lot more than a 'little better' than what was on the rifle..  Check out their seconds and bargain list stocks.  Also do a Google search on 'gun stock wood' and check out some of them.  Also remember a M60 marlin is a 1 piece stock(this is a 22 autoloader) a 2 piece stock is usually a bit cheaper.  Actually $400 isn't bad for a 'top of the line' piece of stock wood..
