Place to hunt hogs in FL
« on: March 31, 2005, 04:38:10 AM »
Fellas,

I need to find a place to hunt hogs in FL near a beach so my wife can go with me.  Trying to find a vacation place where she can relax and I can hunt.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

Unless you have access to private land (good luck) or want to go the pay to hunt route, you are going to be disappointed this time of year. Go to the beach with your wife. The fishing is cranking up pretty good about now.

I'm cool with paying to hunt the hogs; I thought that might be a fun thing to do for a couple days while on vacation.  Thanks!

A google search on "Florida hog hunting" should give you a good place to start. If you can locate the contact info for the Lightsey Cattle Company, they have one of the oldest hog hunting services in the state. They conduct their hunts on Brahma Island in the middle of Lake Kissimmee.
Maybe 1 1/2 hours from Melbourne Beach on the east coast.

OK, I found the link. I have been to their Island on other than hunting business but a hunt was in progress and they truly put on a classic boar hunt. I have never had to use a pay hunting service but I have seriously considered this place on occasion. For a two day hunt, they are pretty reasonable.

Do you have a particular beach in mind? There are lots of places all around the stste to hunt, if you pay. The prices are not all that much either.
