Bell 6.5X55
« on: February 27, 2005, 12:09:04 PM »
well out fishing today i stopped in a small town gas station to get some minnows and munchies and noticed they sold some guns and ammo. i took a look and was surprised at the ammo selection. they had a stack of Bell and PMC 6.5X55, and Norma 5.6X52R & 7.5X55. a very interesting selction. anyways i got a box of Bell to try in my Ljungmann and when i took a look at it the headstamp is the same as the Igman headstamp. is it the same load, or just the same case?

BTW the best place to find out of production ammo is often the small town general stores and gas stations. in my grandparents town i knew the storeowner and asked if they still had any ammo in the storeroom because they stopped putting it out on the shelves. he brought back 12 boxes of Imperial .303 180 gr. Sabre-Tip and said "it's been here for years, i was gonna throw it out, but you can have it for $100" SOLD!!!
" oh we didn't sink the bismarck, and we didn't fight at all, we spent our time in Norfolk and we really had a ball. chasing after women while our ship was overhauled, living it up on grapefruit juice and sick bay alcohol"

6.5x55 Swede ammo is not hard to find in the states at gunshops ect. But the other 2 you mentioned are. The Savage HI Power is considered obsolete in the States though you can mail order the ammo or I suppose make it out of 30/30 brass and the 7.5x55 Swiss same thing you can mail order it (Grafs) or reload Win 284 brass for it. Since the Swiss guns are being imported in the States now I am hopeing some US Cartridge Co will start making it. I do not have one but will order a K31 in March as soon as I get some paid.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

Just a quick update for you - I just looked at the Graf's web site and they are out of stock on the Swiss.  I may have to order some 284 just to get some loaded in a hurry. :?
