Gunsmiths that will work on 760 pump action rifle
« on: March 22, 2005, 11:00:24 AM »
I'm going to post this here and the semi-auto and pump action rifle forum.  Does anyone know of a gunsmith that will rechamber or rebarrel a Remington 760 pump action rifle that is located here in Oregon or Southwest Washington.  The several that I have called, do not want to touch it.  I would prefer to have a gunsmith that I can actually go and see, in person, instead of shipping it off somewhere and dealing with them over the phone.  I guess I'm a "look you in the eye" type of guy.  I know I can't be the only guy here in the pacific northwest that like's these rifles.  Anyway, any and all help will be appreciated.  Bullmastiff

Dog!!!Why not just go to one of the many gun part websites and buy a barrel and put it on yourself?  Unless you want some rare caliber its dead bang easy to take the old smoke wagon apart and bolt on a new tube.

35 Whelen isn't a rare calibre, but it was never chambered in the 760.  I kind of need someone to chamber it, and then check the head space.

There is one around Medford who refinished a M740 for my brother.  I will check with him and get a name.
