hi i am looking at getting a 204 and am wondering what eveybody is shooting, what kind of groups, anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated.

I am a firm believer in the 204. I have a remington vls with a heavy 26" barrel and a laminate thumbhole stock and love it!. As far as accuracy goes, I will have 5 shot groups go inside your pinky nail all day long. whatever questions you have, just ask and they will be answered!

There are few options on guns though. you have the rugers which shoot good, but have bad triggers, the brownings which are ok, the remingtons (my favorite- adjustable triggers), CZ, and then spendy guns like cooper and kimber. No matter what style gun you like, remington will have one that will fit your needs. They have about 6-7 different models offered in the 204, and in my opinion shoot the best FOR THE MONEY.

I agree with IBH on the Remingtons, but also want to add the Savage. They tend to be a bit uglier, but with the accu-trigger seem to be real shooters. Hard to beat for the money. My cousin has one that shoots sub-moa with factory loads and does a fine job on coyotes.

I got a 26 inch barrel for my Encore!

I have shot 3/8 inch groups with it at 100 Yards!
This was with the Hornady 32 grain V-Max factory loads!

I can't wait to get lined up on a coyote with it!

hey IBH i am looking at the exact same rifle rem 204 26 inch laminated thumb hole stock stainless, sounds they they shoot great. can you tell me what a good price might be? what kind of scope do you have?

buzzer- yeah they are awesome, but heavy as a tank. best shooter I have ever had! Since it was a special make up gun, they offered it at resonable price. I think retail on mine was $750 or $800. I dont remember though becuase I sell guns and bought it at cost, so that helps! If you can get it under $800, snag it. Other than the ones that I have sold, I have not heard of anyone else having one. Very tough to find. They only made a couple hundred at first, but now I think they are making more becuase they shot and sold so well.

I have a nikon monarch 5.5-16.5x44mm- awesome scope for that gun! it gives me an unbelievable field of view and offers a good voom range for my style of hunting. My suggestion is to get a scope with an extended eye relief or something with a long tube so you can pull the scope back so you get a clear field of view. I started off with my 4-12x40 monarch, but I had to take it off becuase the scope will not go back far enough for my eye releif. That gun has a long length of pull, and requires an extended eye releif scope, or just a scope with a really long tube so there is lots of adjustment. trust me on this, I had to spend another $400 on a different scope for it!

Buy it and you will love it. I wish I knew how to put pics on the internet, I would show my groups- look hard, 5 shots looks like one

Remington's service department is a nightmare. I went thru the mill twice with them so won't own another in any caliber. I bought an A-Bolt in 204 and get MOA and better. Nice walking varmint rig. Have a Zeiss Conquest 3 X 9 on mine and am really happy with it so far. Looking froward to the snow dissapearing so the PD's can get out.........

I got a Cooper Varminter last year. 32gr shoots UNDER half inch. 40gr still better than any rifle I ever had.
Had it in time to get about 25 groundhogs last year. It does a great job on them.

I shoot an Encore in .204 but really can`t tell you much about how it`s going to shot as I reload all of my own ammo and I`m still fire forming brass for it. Getting about 1 moa, maybe alittle better, with fire form loads. Really right now you should get good accuracy from any of the manufactures as they are all useing new reamers and tooling for the .204.
