Apex, over the years I have shot most of my gobblers with a rifle...a shotgun is more like a murder unless they are on the wing...while I like my Hornet...I have shot 5 turkey with with it...I really like something with a bit my power and heavier bullet...turkey are tough...I shot one in the lung, heart area, with a .22-250 at 200 yards...He almost fell, but righted himself and ran maybe 25 yards...He was hit perfect....the wing butts is the target or the back if walking away...Honestly I would go with the hornet and hot 45 grain loads, and shoot at less than one hundred...I really prefer a .222 or 223 with 63 or 64 grain bullets.... for fall turkey...I am sure you are aware the rifle is not kosher in the spring in Pa...
