Nipple Woes
« on: February 09, 2003, 02:21:02 PM »
Recently, I replaced the factory nipples on an old '58 Pietta with some new MSM stainless ones.  What a mistake that was.  Although well made, not a cap would pop!!!  I had to "bush" them all with copper wire which pulls off when you pull a nipple.  I went back to the originals.  Why can't American manufacturers make a nipple long enough!!!!! :x

Try Uncle Mike's, or check with Dixie GunWorks.  I have replaced 58  Rem Pietta nipples, and Uberti nipples with Stainless Steel aftermarket nipples with no problem.  For Colt type Ubertis (and 2nd/3rd generation Colts) I made spacer shimwashers .015 thick to boost Ruger Old Army nipples to the right height.  They are (Uncle Mikes) more consistant than Italian nipples and have a better flash path.
