Barrel question
« on: March 09, 2005, 01:01:42 PM »
Can a shotgun barrel be mounted to a Centerfire Rifle?  And if so, do the shotgun barrels have interchangable chokes tubes i.e. turkey choke availability?  I would like to get 12ga barrel for my handi if it is possuble.
It's all a hot mess...........

Yes, centerfire rifle actions can have shotgun barrels fitted to them. You can buy either fixed choke or screw in choke tube barrels, your choice. I have a 24" 12 gauge barrel with screw in chokes tubes and have a turkey choke tube as well as others...<><....

Shotgun barrels
« Reply #2 on: March 09, 2005, 02:00:23 PM »
Thanks for the reply.  How heavy are those shotgun barrels?  They look a little on the heavy side.  Let me explain what I am trying to do.  A couple of times a year I go hunting for predators in the back country of the Hoosier National Forest.  I am wanting to get pretty deep into it.  Some of the terrain I have come across is best suited for scatter guns and other areas are best suited for long guns.  I have looked into combo guns and quite frankly I do not like the accuracy reports, the POI shifts in the optics with the kick of the scattergun, and the overall price of them ($550 and up).  I would like to be able to put the scattergun barrel in my pack and be able to switch out when situation and terrain dictates what tactics I use as far as shotgun vs. rifle.

Does the 12ga 24" turkey barrel come with iron sights or is just drilled and tapped for scope mounts?
