Shotgun/rifle to pistol........ conversion questions.
« on: March 01, 2005, 07:03:15 PM »
Hello all. I'm a brand new TC Encore owner.  I just bought the 12 ga all camo turkey gun.  I am/was planning on buying a rifle set up to go with it, but then I got to thinking.  I very rarely use firearms to hunt deer (bow/archery man myself) so why not get a pistol instead? The challenge is greater w/a pistol, right?  I use firearms to deer hunt if the weather ain't too cooperative. Sleet/snow.
Is there any way I can LEGALLY convert my set up to a pistol?  Re-register it or something?  It says on the box............  NO!  The camo receiver kinda gives it away as being sold as a long gun, I think.  If anyone was to check.  I wouldn't mind having a .260 Rem or a 7mm-08 pistol to hunt deer with.
It may not can be done........ I was just wondering if any of you guys knew the "politics" of it?  I am certainly legal enough to own a pistol...
I probably should have bought a pistol and then went from there, but I really wanted the all camo turkey gun.  Don't know why, cause I bowhunt turkey some as well.
Any advice/information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance............  Derek, from N. Texas.
ps, if anyone is from around the Denton/Gainesville/Sherman area and shoot these Encores quite a bit............ give me a shout.  I'd like to learn all I can about them from a seasoned veteran!

Do a search here and you will find numerous posts on this. The best thing is to contact your local BAFT.  :D
