cooking up a 223 load for a 15in encore, any suggestions?

lookin for powder used, weight bullet weight, COAL, and if you guys neck size or fl size

Try aa2230 powder. very clean burning, kinda noisy but very consistent. work very well in my 14" contender with the speer 50gr. tnt hollow point. have had great success on rockchucks and sage rats. if the shot is placed anywhere in the chest cavity of a coyote he just comes apart. had better success with 45 and 50gr bullets. Hope this helps. start at about 24gr. and work up at 1/2gr intervals. good luck

I use a slightly different approach using my 14" barrel.  I load 24.7g of 3031 and 40g Nosler BT's.  That load works well in my Dillon press (not compressed), minimizes muzzle blast/noise, and can group 1" at 200 yards.  Velocity is around 2,700+ fps at muzzle.  

I've tried different loads but I just love shooting this one :lol: .  Haven't hit a coyote yet  :roll: (trying this weekend) but works well on crows, groundhogs, etc.

What twist is your barrel?

my barrel is a factory 1in12 twist
i've never tried anything lighter then 50 grains.,,,i htough i read that was ideal for that twist rate? anyone else hear differently?

This is strictly an observation based on the limited amount of time I am getting to spend w/ my Sweetie (T/C G2).  I went to the range to break in my 223 barrel and shoot up some 40 Federal loads, to get ready to shoot my all time favorite most accurate BH, Blue Box, 50 gr V Max.  Shoot 50 rounds of the Federal 40.  Shoot 50 rounds of the BH.  Comparing the 5 target groups each load generated, I WAS AMAZED!  The lighter shot MUCH better than the 50 grain.  I am going to try and confirm this with some other loads, I was certain the 1 in 12 was gonna love the 50's like my rifles do.

16 1/4 inch barrel...Hornady V-Max 40 grns, RE-7 23 grns..MOA
16 1/4 inch barrel...Hornady V-Max 40 grns, 13.3 grns Blue Dot
16 1/4 inch barrel...Hornady V-Max 35 grns, RE-7 26 grns
The first is my favorite, the other two are fun to play around with and also very accurate
