Ordered a Swiss K31 today
« on: March 09, 2005, 06:37:40 AM »
Ordered my Swiss K 31 today if they ship today I should have it Friday. if not by Monday. Now just the wait for the BBT.  I normally do not go with Handpick as I think normally you just are at the mercy of the guy picking off the pile but I wanted a Walnut stock and all matching and they said I could get that for hand pick so for the extra ten bucks I guess to me it was worth it for that. Total price shipped was a couple of cents over $114. bucks. Not a bad deal and I have had good luck with SOG in the past so expect the same now. Plus they have a 100% satisfaction Guarantee so I guess I should get what I want and if not I can send it back and get a other one. SOG has been decent to me so far I have ordered several rifles from them and they have been good ones. Just wondering are these coated in Cosmo or grease when you get them or have they been pretty clean? Not that it matters just wondering. Jim

Well SOG called me this afternoon after I had placed my order this morning and said they do not have any Walnut left. But I still could get all matching. So at least that is something. It also delayed the shipping until tomorrow so I will not get it until Mon. Oh well I have several milsurps with Beech stocks so one more will not make a difference.

I reload for all my rifles and plan to do so for the Swiss K 31 so High ammo cost are not a concern. WIll post and have pics when I get it. Darn its going to be a long weekend.

I was able to get an all-matching K31 from Big5 a couple of weeks ago.  I looked up ammo prices on line...then ordered my die set 5 minutes later!    At $1 a round, my dies will pay for themselves in ONE DAY of shooting.

Mine had a "generous layer" of cosmo on it, but it isn't nearly as bad as the Yugo SKS I got from them the week before.
The problem with troubleshooting is....sometimes it shoots back!

Mine was nice and clean.
These rifles are the best bargain going. The quality of the metal work is outstanding. They are very accurate. The triggers are excellent. Take off the butt plate when yours arrives. You have about a 50/50 chance of finding a piece of paper with the name and address of the last person to whom it was issued. If it clicks without firing but there's no dent in the primer, the bolt wasn't in battery. I discovered that after neck-sizing several times. There are other unique features but you'll discover those for yourself. Just a fascinating rifle.

I just ran across a K-31 at my local gunshop that had been rebarrelled to 308.  They were asking $129 for it.  Seemed to be in decent shape.  Mikey.

Mikey;  The gun was probably rechambered like the French MAS 49/56 they remachined the barrel back so the 308win/nato(7,62x51) round would fit because the 7.5 french(7,5x54) round is longer, its the same bore size, well there using the .308" diameter bullets in both the 7,5 swiss and the 7,5 french for reloading.  There only setting the barrel back a few milimeters to shorten up the longer chamber.                    BigBill

You will never regret buying a K-31......great accuracy and the rifle itself is a piece of the swiss workman's art!!!!
