Whatever works for the paticular firearm. I don't care who makes it as long as it performs. 8)

I have used only Winchester and Remington.  Never had any complaints with either.

Like most others, I have, and still do use most any brand depending on the circumstances.

That said though, my favorites hands down are...

Starline for straight walled brass, and Federal for bottleneck.

Can anyone explain why Federal doesn't sell their brass to the public? I would use Federal brass in all my rifles if they did.

Federal does sell their brass as a component. I buy a lot of their gold medal match brass, as well as their premium brass in boxes of 100.

Most of my brass has "Remington" stamped on the head.

The main reason is that I buy brass in decently large quantities, generally 1000 or 2000 at a time, and I insist that it all be of the same lot number.  My supplier can generally meet those requirements with Remington brass.

However, I recently loaded some .22-250 for a fellow and he insisted on Winchester brass.  I managed to get 500 pieces of the same lot number, and the brass was a mess!  I have never seen fresh factory brass arrive in such poor shape.

Could you tell me where I can purchase some of this Federal brass? I have always been told they do not sell brass.

I use Norma for my .308 loads, & Starline for all my pistol & revolver loads. I'm of the opinion that the case is the most important component in handloading, so I spend a little extra now, and hopefully get the best quality. Just my 2 cents, jd45.

I've been buying mine from a local shop here in SW Virginia. I'm not sure where he orders it from, but I'll find out.

You might want to check a Mid-South catalog too. I can't find mine right this minute(don't order much from them), but I'm pretty sure I saw it in there.

Was using LC brass that came from Blackhills ammo. Have since purchased new Winchester brass. I will eventually phase out using LC brass in favor of Winchester brass for my .223.
