EMF 75 Remmy
« on: April 01, 2005, 08:02:23 AM »
Just wondering if anybody knows why EMF doesn't seem to have and don't seem to be getting any 1875 Remington 7.5" bbl in 44-40?  They have .45 colt and .38 but no 44-40.  They do have 44-40 in 5.5" bbl, but I don't know if I like thr shorter barrel.  How popular was the shorter barrel in the old days?  Anyways, just curious to see if anybody knows why the shortage?  Thanks.

I'll give you my quick answer.
EMF, like all the importers (Cimarron, Navy Arms, etc) sells mostly Uberti guns.  Uberti is out of Italy.  Italians are not the same in business relations as we have come to expect.  I have a few friends on the inside.. you get what you get when they send it.  And because we are buying everything they make, there is little incentive to improve their delivery practice.

That is why you will find runs of different guns suddenly available in huge numbers, never to be seen again.  Like the whole shipload of opentops but only in 44 colt.

That's the way of it.  Adios,
But what is liberty without wisdom, and without virtue? It is the greatest of all possible evils; for it is folly, vice, and madness, without tuition or restraint.  - Edmund Burke
