Recommendation needed for a good screw driver set and where to get it.  Any other basic tools that I should have.  Appreciate any info.  Thanks, Mike.

......Ditto on the Brownells replaceable tip screwdriver set....AND sometimes the smaller shaft type fixed screwdrivers are needed and the Forster/Bonanza set of 8 screwdrivers or Brownells fixed blade drivers are great.......a set of pin punchs....if you are going to do much disassembly.......and a bench block if you don't make your own from hardwood......for scope mounting the alignment/lapping kit is good if you use other than insert type rings-Burris signature....precision small vise..........stone set and oil......all these and almost anything else is at Brownells and they are GREAT people and super service....they have basic kits that save some money if you are going to do beyond basic work.....the type of guns and work you want to do will require some special tools.....such as bolt disassembly tools for cleaning inside of bolts and alignment rods for revolvers ect......but good screwdrivers-gunsmith type are always needed and extra bits let you grind the special sizes for your guns .......enjoy and good luck and good shooting!!

Brownell Magna-tip too hard. Very brittle. Break easy.

Nothing wrong with Sears Craftman. They are guarenteed for life and they are located all over the place. Specialty gunsmithing tools can be ordered from places like Brownell.
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.

I use the Brownells screwdriver bits extensively. They work very well indeed. Sears has a ratcheting screwdriver with a handle that folds over to 90 degrees.  This provides tremendous leverage and much better control.  Also the bits made for power screwdrivers seem to work well. The phillips bits of this type(I believe they are B&D) have tiny ridges that bite into the interior of the screws recess.  Almost impossible to torque out!!  You will want a set of the Brownells rollpin punches. These are specially designed to remove and insert these cursed roll pins the designers seem so enamored with.  Without them there will be damaged rollpins and much wailing and knashing of teeth!!! The pins punches Brownells sells(replaceable tips) in the regular and short pin lengths are also wonderful.  You will also need a few cold chisels and cape chisels of various sizes, mostly in the 1/4 too 1/2 inch range. A couple of prick punches and a selection of brass, nylon, and aluminum drifts should handle the common problems. There will come specialty punches such as the S&W cup faced punches for special applications.. I also love the magna visor. This allows a magnafied view that stays in front of your regular glasses(or eyes). Get the ones that have a focal length of 10-12 inches(perhaps a tiny bit less),.
