Front sight screw

What is the size of the front sight screw?

That fiber optic sight sure is delicate it turns out.  I was trying to remove the breech plug when cleaning and it was in there a bit firmer than usual... and it slipped out of my hands about 6 inches onto the floor.

Luckily I was planning to scope this barrel anyway, but if I remove the front sight, I wanted to plug that hole.

I took my front sight off too and also need a plug for the empty screw hole. Anyone know what size this might be?
Go out and get yourself a Concealed Weapons License. I did. :gun4:

Did a search on stainless steel plug screws and this looks like the best option... too bad you have to buy 12 at a time.

Anyone interested in splitting with me?  PM me.

I could go either way.  I wouldn't mind owning 6 of these screws... but I don't particularly want to pay $16 for a dozen.  If someone's interested in spliting a dozen with me PM me... otherwise I'll go with the second.

FYI... 6-48 is not the correct size for the front sight screw.  That is the rear sight screw size.

The front sight screw size is 8-40  for the Encore rifle barrels........ the Encore pistol and Contender barrels use 6-48 front and rear.

I always remove the sights on my Encore barrels and was  always looking for screws to fill the holes. Now I just take a candle and let hot wax drip in the holes, let it cool and trim the excess with a sharp knife. I use a white candle for my stainless barrels and a black for blued barrels. Works great, really can't see the hole at all. If I want to replace the sights it only takes a few seconds with a Bic lighter to reheat the wax and clean out the screw holes.
