OK guys, I'm back w/some more questions. Sorry for this "book" of a post, but I need help/coaching! I now have a 10" 7-08 that I have shot 7 factory Remington 120 grain hollow points out of. (only shells I could find-and only 1 box at that). The pistol has a 4x scope and I am shooting it off of a rail rest, not in a vice. The scope was already mounted and apparently sighted in pretty darn well. Wish I had a digital to show the shots on my shoot and see targets. 1st shot was 1" low and 1" right. That was my fault cause I was worried about it blowing up on me or something. I'd never shot a scoped pistol before. The next shot (I'm more comfortable w/it by now) blew the "10" out of the center. The next 3 all cut the "10" hole. 4 shots touching in the center. The actual holes weren't touching, but the blew out green areas were. I'd say 4 shots w/in a 1-1 1/2" group. This is only at 50 yards. My son shot the other 2 shots and hit the target, 1 high left, 1 low right, both times. (good 4 him. LOL!)
I am surprised at this group because the trigger feels hard to me. Much harder than I have my rifles set at. But I hold it firm till it fires. The dang thing nearly jumps out of my hand but DAMN! IT'S COOL ! I love the pistol!
I have seen ads on ebay about trigger job kits. I was wondering what ya'll thought of them, and who I could get to install one. I know nothing about them, obviously. I'd like to find someone in the N. Tx area so that I don't have to send it off. My trigger has no creep or travel at all. Just pull til it explodes. And pull pretty hard, at that.
Next question....... I've heard that reloads work better for powder burn in the short barrels. Is this true, and if so, does anyone know of a site where these can be purchased from a trustworthy supplier? I don't want to start reloading myself. I'd also like to have some recommendations on lead grain weight. I like the 120's, but I haven't shot the 140's. I just figured the 120's would have less recoil. Like I've said many times, I"M OPEN TO ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS/ADVICE.
Thanks in advance,.... Derek.
