Pitted bore

I have a Yugo sks with a pitted bore.Iwould like to change out the barrel. I figured if I am going to do this I might as well use a chrome lined replacement.I know that Big Bill attempted to install a chinese barrel in a Yugo receiver,and it ended up 180 deg. out. The tech guy at G.P.C. claims that all threaded barrels will properly fit any threaded receiver. Have any of you guys succesfully installed a chrome lined barrel in a Yugo receiver? If so what was the barrels country of origin?

First are you sure the bore is pitted?  I found out my three yugo M59's had some sort of plastic or rubber residue in the bores from plastic or rubber bullets.  After a good scrubbing and soaking with G.I. Rifle Bore Cleaner the crud came out and i ended up with two rifles with great bores and one very slightly pitted but still shootable.

And Yes they will fit as far as screwed in but there not lined up right for the gas port opening and the pin slots for the rear site, front site and the gas port.  We could reslot the pin knotches but its redrilling the gas port hole thru the chrome lining that scares me if the chrome chips its all over.
Let me know if you find one that fits because i think were up the creek without a paddle on this one.  Since the Russians taught the Chinese how to manufacture the sks I'm thinking the russian and chinese barrels have the threads started in the same position so both would be off 180 degrees than the yugo reciever is too.  I'm kind of thinking the yugo maybe the oddball when it comes to matching barrels.  I'm not sure about the romanian or the albanian barrels either but i've only seen the chinese barrels for sale at numrich.                                        BigBill

            Yes I am absolutely sure the bore is pited. I removed the gl. and got into the rifeling 3or4 in. down the bore thru the muzzle with a dental pick, and could easely feel the etched in pitting.Absolute shame as the rest of the rifle appears new.G.P.C. has Yugo barrels now to,but they are a little pricey, and I was realy hopeing I could end up with a chrome bore.
