replacing Winchesters pre-64 trigger
« on: March 23, 2005, 04:59:36 AM »
Some may know or not - but I do not have access to immediate smiths. I also will at one time purchase the stone(s),guide etc to hone down trigger as I have plenty of firearms. I want to replace the stock trigger/overtravel screw with a drop in-lots of brand names out there. Favor this ole gal of mine and want her to have the pull she would like have-to sweeten things up a mite. Gunnut what do you say.

AkRvrrat-
Why not adjust the trigger that's there?  the M70 trigger is one of the best on factory guns.  It's adjustable and out in the open, so dirt etc. don't have much effect.  It's adjustable for trigger tension and over travel with a couple small wrenches, a screwdriver and with a ceramic or black hard arkansas home to polish the least bit, it can be smoothed..  The take up or creep is a bit harder but not bad.  Otherwise an aftermarket trigger can accomplish the same thing..  The after markets for this model may need fitting to allow the safety to continue functioning.
