« on: March 29, 2005, 01:33:01 AM »
I received my Warne maxima scope mount bases for my Marlin 45-70 guide gun but when I went to install them,I found that the screws that came with the bases are way to small. What is the correct screw size to use?

Usually scope mount screws are 6x48 but are sometimes altered to use 8x40 for the increased strength of the larger screw.  Most gunshops will have what you need..  These are not commonly used screw sizes other than in guns and some machine work.  I have sometimes found these type screws at a local machine shop but it may simply be an exceptional machine shop!
