20ga Shorty On the Way

It has a fine escort, too.  A .243 barrel and receiver are coming with it.  Can hardly wait.  I was able to order the SC2-Y43 Combo from Walmart.  Now, I too, will have a 22in, 20ga.

Cookieman isn't that the youth model ?  I had a youth model .410 for a couple of years and ever was happy with it.  Hope you have better luck with yours.

Glad everything worked out for you. I haven't had a chance to shoot mine yet. It does seem like it will be a favorite.

DaveH,  I have a set of adult stocks to put on it so the LOP will be comfortable for me.  I am not really sure what type of stock it will have .  The Walmart pick looks like it will have the english style like comes on the 410/22 versa pack.  That stock only has a 11 3/4 LOP.  The standard 20ga youth is a little longer so I just don't know.
Markus,  I am really lookin' forward to having that 22in barrel.  I'm sure it won't be the last 22in shotgun barrel I will have.  I think I may send my SB1 frame in to be fitted with a 22in 12ga Mod. barrel.  Not sure yet.

Short barrels in short range hunting/rifled slug/ walkin' around guns can't be beat. I've got to fire up the digital camera and post some pics. I've got a versa pac and was gonna put an adult stock on it but my wife likes shooting it so I'll leaveit alone. Anything to encourage her shooting.

They charged me what the web site listed.  It was $222 and change + tax.  At least that was the price they had on the order.  I don't know if that will change when the gun comes in and I pay the balance.  
Markus, I was thinkin' the same thing about the Versa Pak.  I still may do that.  Would be nice to have a 22/410 for bunny hunts and squirrels, but for now I am happy with gettin' a 22in 20ga.

I bought my Versapac as a gift for my Dad an it lived in the back seat of his truck. I don't think he'd shot any of his guns in years and that neat little combo got him out shooting again. Now that he's gone the gun and the truck have both come my way and it still spends a lot of time in the back seat. My wife likes shooting it and I'm sure my 4 year old will be using it in the coming years.

I think that would be a good starter for a youngster.  I have been thinking of picking one up for me/my, uh,  grandsons. LOL  Well, hey, it looks good on paper.  This thing I have for "short barrel" shotguns will give them plenty of options as they get more proficient.  The oldest one is 8 and saw a Cricket 22 at Gander a while back.  I could tell by the gleem in his eye that he will be my "hunting partnet" in a couple more years.  That will be a lot of fun!

If the boy is 8 he's old enough in my opinion. Of course my buddies 8 year old makes goose hunting a little more of a challenge and kids that age do require constant and close supervission. I started squirrel hunting with my Dad at about 6. By 8 I was venturing into the woods alone. with an old ithaca single shot lever action. Actually back then it was'nt really an old gun. Times are different now and I don't think I'd send off any 8 year old with a gun by themselves.
