What do you guys think of scoping a bisley.
I posted some pics in the mem gallery take a look and be honest :roll:

scopes belong on rifles.....I wouldn't dare argue with their effectiveness on handguns but if I want to carry a scoped firearm it will be a rifle. Nothing wrong with scoping a handgun I just don't like it, especially revolvers.

Yeah, I agree with Sharps4590. A handgun is supposed to be handy. Put a scope on it and it's not handy anymore. It's bulky and awkward. :roll: :wink:

If you like the gun scoped that's all that matters. I prefer them unscoped but there are a few lingering around here with a funny look 'in thing on top.

Good looking mount. What brand is it?
I prefer handguns without scopes, but my older eyes don't agree. My distant vision is about as sharp as ever, but I have to use reading glasses to see my watch...If I could just add about 12" to my arms I would be OK.

I'll continue to handgun hunt as long as my other body parts keep working, but it requires me to use a scope.

Personally I think it's a sin! Not really... BUT a handgun to supposed to be easy to carry. A scope? Naaaah. If vision is a problem, especially as we get older, the money spent on a good set of glasses instead of a scope would be money better spent. The glasses would also be a benefit in daily life, not just shooting. Right? :roll: This is the same reason I have peep sights on my Marlin .35 lever action (should be a quick shooting easy carry gun-kinda like a revolver). BUT... at the same time, my Ruger M-77 30-06 wears a leopold 3X9X40 scope, which by the way is an absolute tackdriver. Does this make sense?

I'm working with my Congressman and Senators to get a federal law passed to outlaw scopes on handguns.

OK, just kidding but dang it I have passed the stage in my life where I think scopes belong on handguns.

Thanks for the info. Did the top strap have to be drilled and tapped for the mount?

I have age induced farsightedness. When the eyes aren't as flexible as when younger they can't focus up close. Glasses ground for near vision correction won't let you focus at a distance. For handgun shooting with iron sights... glasses won't fix it. The cost of handgun scopes versus a pair of glasses...believe me I'm bright enough to do the math, and if slapping on a pair of specs would work I would have done it a long time ago.

A little more Deterioration of the eyes and i may have to use a scope on my revolvers, But it's not to my liking, I still do pretty good if the light is good but when it starts to get dark i have a problem.......Joe.........

My tired old eyes have deteriorated to the point even the front sight on a rifle is fuzzy. But I've gone exactly the opposite direction. I've used scopes on handguns for years but refuse to now. I just learn my limits and live within them.

If it's a hunting gun, you'd be handicapping yourself by not using a scope. Ruger must think scoping a Bisley is a good idea because they're selling one now.

While GB is busy lobbying the legislature for handguns without scopes, his legislators are working tirelessly for scopes without handguns.

GB's real point, however, is well taken. I've taken the scope off my sainted 44 magnum in anticipation of my next pig hunt. I'll be going au natural (i.e. with factory iron sights) for that hunt. However, this is because I can be reasonably assured of multiple options for shots at reasonably close range, and in good light. When I hunt in the changeable dimness of the northern woods, I want the optics, unless I'm in a tree stand where I can be sure of a shot at archery distance.

If your handgun hunting is at archery distance, I think the scope may actually be a handicap, so long as you can see the iron sights reasonably well.

hey Questor point taken if I am hunting things that will eat me at spiting distance NO SCOPE NEEDED but I hunt mostly deer in the hard woods of NW ARKANSAS

Looks like a new shooter to me. I have me a long barreled scoped handcannon that I use for groundhog and this upcoming deer season. Blood sugar issue has caused eye focusing problems, so a scope is what I gotta use.

Well I ain't gay but hey do whatever you feel like doing to your Bisley.

Scoped pistols might not look as sleak as one without a scope but they
are very pratical.
