Just got my 6 cav. mould from lee. Third pouring pot metal on spru cutter handle  busted, sent lee a e-mail. Pulled the handle off another and back in bus. Its a good looking bullet with a BIG flat nose on it.
anyway with the mix I use there comming out at 315 grs., after lubeing and gc they weigh a couple grs under 325. What I need is a few starting loads for it. will be shooting out of a Redhawk. Some place I read to crimp on the first crimping ring. Also these bullets are two long for other 44's. Anybody?

they are nice bullets and i like them.  i would make a few rounds (some set at the front crimp groove, others set at the back groove.  see if it makes a difference accuracy wise.  mine did not.  i sized mine at .430 and had to seat the bullet to the front groove (deeper) in order for them to chamber.  sized to .429, i could seat them out to the rear groove.  i always got good accuracy out of them.  
   
   i shot mine out of a sbh, which has a shorter chamber.  you SHOULD be able to seat them out in your redhawk.  make a dumby round and find out.   for reloading info, look in a lee reloading book,  or on the instructions that come with lee 44 reloading dies.

When a bullet has two crimp grooves it makes a BIG difference which you use as to how much powder you use. Generally speaking I drop at least two grains of powder if using the groove closest to nose for shortest overall length. It really intrudes into the case capacity when using that one.
