Scope/rifle sight combo availability?
« on: March 28, 2005, 12:29:15 PM »
The land I hunt allows no rifles. While I'm considering a rifle sighted 223 for turkey hunting (previous post),  I am also thinking about using it for coyote hunting on the same land. It would be better (as in more range) than a shotgun. I would however like to use a scope for yotes. Is there a setup that allows easy change over? Something like a quick detach scope base that does not interfere with the open sights.

You are shooting what was once touted as the most versitile hand gun made.    Don't try to confine it.  Do like the rest of us and start collecting barrels!!  :-D  :)  :-D  :)

Seriously if you don't find the sighting system you seek, this is the area where this pistol shines.  You have your game barrel with open sights.  Just add a 'yote barrel in the varmint caliber of your choice with a scope.  Swapping barrels is probably faster anyway.  C'mon, you don't want to miss out on the fun do you?

If you go to a 16 1/4"(super 16 ) barrel, you can put a Weaver base behind the open sights, mount your scope with see thru rings and have both.  I have a 22lr and 22Mag set up this way.  Works good for me.  The open sights don't stick up very high above the Weaver base, but its enough to get a pretty good sight picture.  GOOD SHOOTIN',  Walt
