Springfield Armory Firestar
« on: March 26, 2005, 12:19:05 AM »
Anyone familiar with Springfield Armory's Firestar or maybe Firestorm compact 9mm auto. Is this the same as the Spanish Star Firestar but marketed by Springfield? I could not find any Spanish marks on the gun but I didn't take it apart. It's at the local Gander Mountain, used but looks like it has been fired very little.

Springfield Firecat

It's a Firecat.

I have one. Springfield sold the license to the gun, so,
if it's a Firecat, it was made by Springfield and won't
have Spanish markings or serial numbering. Mine has
a serial number that starts with 'FC'.

As long as the ejector is kept clean, it's a reliable
gun. It's small, easy to carry. The grips are big enough
for my hands.

The only thing missing in my mind is a grip safety like
on the 1911 this gun resembles. I'm had my slide safety
release while in the holster. But, when I carried it,
I used an IWB holster with a thumb break strap between
the hammer and the firing pin.
