Scopes with fine duplex?

Im looking for some glass for my new encore 204 barrel. I want something with a fairly fine x-hair for papershooting and decent mag.
Thinking about an Elite 4200, but Im not thrilled about the thickness of the reticle. I have a VX-III 4.5-14x50 on my 300 RUM and love it but would like to find something a bit cheaper. Any suggestion???

Have you looked at the Weaver Grand Slam line?  These are excellent scopes.  I have the Leupold you mentioned, plus both the Bushnell 3200 and 4200, and several Nikon Monarch models.  The Grand Slam is as sharp and clear as any of them, plus the reticle adjustments are top notch.  The Grand Slam model I have seems to have a slightly finer duplex crosshair than the Leupold.  No measurements taken here from manufacturer spec sheets, just the way it appears to my eyes.  Hope this helps.

I have a Leupold fixed 8X with a fine cross hair and AO. Great for paper shooting.
