Anybody shooting 6.5 US
« on: February 13, 2003, 12:38:10 AM »
I bought a 6.5 US barrel made by E. Author Brown Co. last fall.  It shoots great.  My best 3 shot group so far, 100 yds, is 5/8", typical groups around .75".  I have not hunted with it much, anybody used it to hunt with.  Balistically it is on par with the 6.5 JDJ.  Mine shoots a 125 partition at 2430 fps.  The 120 gr. Nosler BT shoots most accurately.  For those who haven't heard of it, uses 30-30 brass necked down and trimmed.  The guy that had it before me used it on Texas hogs with great success.
Has anybody else used it to hunt with?

While I haven't hunted with it, I have shot a 6.5US in IHMSA Production class for several years. I have tried most of the guns available for this class, and kept coming back to the E.A.Brown 6.5. It is comfortable, extremely accurate and easy to load for. Works for me. Russ
