Some folks free float the forends by using a spacer/washer between the barrel and forend. I personally use fawcet washers and turn the screw heads to the same tension when I remove and reinstall the forend. This can be accomplished by orienting the screw slots to the same position each time and marking the front and rear screws to place them the same hole each time. Once you have the washers in place if you choose this route, the screw slots can easily be at 6:00 and 12:00 for the front and back screws. This might seen rediculous but it just eliminates one possibility for an accuracy issue.
