Picking a youth shotgun.......Daly or Remington?

It's time to buy a shotgun for each of my 2 sons (10 & 9 yoa).  Most of their shooting with be on the skeet and sporting clays fields, with bird hunting to come.  Pumps are out because they just don't work well for the majority of the shooting/training I have in mind for them.  There are a few youth O/Us out there, but the majority of the ones I've researched are of either low end quality or $1k+.........I have to buy 2 of these and don't want to throw down a couple grand on shotguns which may only fit them for a few years.

I have narrowed down my selection to the Remington 1100 youth and the Charles Daly semi youth.  I don't own a Remington or Charles Daly shotgun (Browning man myself), but I am aware of the 1100's reputation and longevity.  I am also aware of the Daly's lifetime warranty, but I just don't have a great feeling about buying a couple of Turkish made shotguns.

Two Remington youth 1100s will cost around $300 more than two Charles Daly semi youths.  Are the Remington's worth the difference?  I tend to feel they might be, but wanted to get some feedback from users of both.  TIA.

buy quality, its cheaper in the long run. remington is the right choice. when the kids get older you can spend a few more bucks and put on an adult sized buttstock.

You've been given GOOD advice.  I'm not familiar with Daly shotguns but I have owned several Remingtons including 870's and 1100's.  I'm also in favor of Remington's youth-designed shotguns that easily adapt to full-size adult guns when needed.  Brownell's [altho not cheap] is a good source for the adullt size stocks.  Cabela's or your local gunshop are excellent sources for any number of birdshot or slug barrels too.  Plus there are more accessories for Remington shotguns than other brands, including with the 20 gauge.

Your sons are lucky you're as committed as you are to getting them good starter guns.  My dad started me on a singleshot .410.  I's never do that to my children, but since I also reload can hand-tailor whatever loads however light or heavy they need to be.

Keep a couple extra gas seal-rings handy too, for the M1100.

I bought a charles daly product once because of the "across-the-ounter" lifetime guarantee that is no longer honored.

My son started with the Mossberg Bantam. The gun is a youth platform from the ground up, not just another shortened LOP (nothing against Remington, I love my Wingmaster)

The Bantam comes with a coupon to get a longer stock later. The super bantam looks even more versitle, but wasn't out when I bought the bantam.

My son is about ready to outgrow it. We recently put a slug bbl on it and it makes a handy little slug gun, almost like a carbine type feel.

The quality has been good. I'm positive he will start one of his kids on it someday.

Chooses what you will, but don't over look this gun, it's been very good to us. :wink:

Just an update.  I went ahead and got the 2 Remington 1100 youths for my sons.  Nice guns with synthetic stocks and matte finish......more of a quality feel to the gun than the Charles Daly.
 
Took my boys out to shoot some impromptu manual trap.  They absolutely loved it.  Missed most of the birds till they got the hang of it and then were dusting most of them.  I'd say overall they broke 1 in 3, not bad for their first time.  Next trip will be to the skeet range with some singles work on houses 1,2 & 6,7.   If all goes well, we'll load 2 and try doubles on 1 & 7.
 
These 1100 youths are nice little guns, and functioned perfectly the 1st time out with target loads.
 
Sx2, thanks for the suggestion, but I ruled out a pump early on because of the type of shooting my sons would be doing.  Just a FYI, but Remington builds all it's youth models on their small receivers.......870, 1100 or 11-87.  I suppose when they're older/bigger,  I'll pick up adult size shocks for them.
