What's a .444 worth?
« on: April 02, 2005, 11:02:43 AM »
Went to the Frederick, MD (Silverado) gun show today.  Part-time dealer from Hagerstown, MD had a bunch of  nice Handi's, including a laminate-stocked factory .444 caliber for $270.  Should I have???

I would jump all over it if I were you...there wasn't that many of them made to begin with...and they are getting harder and harder to find in good shape...for me...they are the next best thing to a hot loaded 45-70...and it will do wonders on big critters on down...if I wasn't getting a new Ultra comp barrel from NEF I would be trying for one of them....$270 for one in very good shape isn't too bad a price...

I agree with MAC.  $250 is about right for a laminated stock ANYTHING and 444's are getting REAL hard to come by.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

.35 whelen, 7x57, 7x64 Brenneke, 270 and 30-06 UltraComp, .357 Rem Maximum are some of the hard to find calibers because they were only produced for a limited time.....
