Sounds like great shooting (ar anything else) weather. That 450 yard shot by Mitchelll sounds like it was a doozey, I wonder if it will hold up as the longest? I have not heard of any longer. That's a loooong poke at something as small as a  Prairie Dog!! Mitchell may hold that title for quite a while, at least a year until next years shoot!!! I just wish he had made it with a .223, I don't have a .204 and it looks as if the .204 may be the king of long shots for a while.
You guys have heard of a "Quigley" rifle right? We may have to statrt calling .204's the "Mitchell" rifles...<><....  :-D

Msp; The 450 yd shot was duplicated several times by Fuzzy and I several times as we spotted for each other, with Mitchell doing the honors with the range finder. Fuzzy's 25 06 really done a number on the younger (smaller) pd's at that range. It seems as though everywhere GB went, they pulled a disapearing act just before he got there. I sure hope he has better luck today.   Digger

They're on the way.

I know that Grandpa Mike took a bunch more than I did and he'll probably be back home tomorrow depending on how hard he pushes it.

Digger that's great on the long shots, I think it was Mitchell himself that said you and some others had some great 500 (+?) shots with bolt guns. Remembering that this was a H&R Handi PD shoot who holds the record for the longest shot(s) with a H&R Handi Rifle?, how long, what caliber and whatever associated info to with the H&R Handi record? Thanks. Also congratulations on the 500+yard shot!!!....<><....

I didn't really see that many Handi's in use. Yeah I took mine and used it a bit and got one at well over 100 yards free hand with iron sights. Shot a few more closer in with it.

I saw a LOT more bolt guns than handi's in use. I reckon most of us really don't know how far all the shots we made were. Wes ranged at least one of mine at 450 yards while I was using my R700 VLS. It was out  between the oil well and tanks. I'm use at least one with the "super highly modified handi" was at about 430 yards as it was just shy of the fence line that was 440 yards away on Friday. I reckon I made some longer but since Bushnell failed to deliver the range finder I was expecting and I foolishly left mine home expecting that one I didn't have a means to be sure.

First picture I tried to take was of Dennis and it broke my camera so I didn't bring a single photo home. But DJ took lots and her and Mike have promised to send those of us there a CD with them if we'll provide a mailing address. I hope so as I have no photos otherwise of the trip.

Will try to post a thread on my observations later once I get a little caught up.
