Hi everyone, i just purchased a marlin 336 in .35 and it has a swift 4x-40mm scope on it, i bought a box of 20 winchester powerpoint 200 grains, i wasn't real impressed with the accuracy it was grouping about 2 to 3 inches and would be all over the place randomly, i took it into the house and the screws on the side of the action were loose, could these be causing the problems? the bore looks very good to so i don't think the barrel is shot out...it would group but i would adjust it and it would be double what i adjusted it...any suggestions?

first thing that i would be suspect of is that scope. Take it off and try your open sights at 50 yards or try another scope.

I shoot my dads 35 now and then and i've never tried those power points but have tried winchester silvertips with accuracy not very good but could be used if need be, but his 336 just loves the remington 200 grain SPCL Check all your screws on the rifle and make sure the scope is properly mounted then give it another try and also get a box of those remington's. I've personally never had a Marlin 336 that didn't shoot well, either in 30-30 or .35 Remington. Of course, if you have loose screw mounts, that has to cause accuracy problems.

To the best of my knowledge Swift makes a pretty good scope but this one may be malfunctioning. Lloyd Smale gave you a good suggestion. Don't forget that every rifle is an individual and thus you may need to try different brands of ammo. My 336C .35 Rem likes Federal 200 grain rounds very well. I've got a Weaver K 2.5x20mm Classic on mine and it shoots extremely well. It will clover leaf said round off the bench at 70 yards. I'm building a 100 yd range and will try it at that distance soon. Keep in mind that this is off a bench. Took a nice black bear two falls ago with this round as well. Don't give up on your rifle.

Sorry! I misread your post. Thought you said that the screws were loose on the scope. You certainly should take the advice of the rifleman that told you to remove the scope and try it.
