HOG LIGHT
« on: May 19, 2005, 02:16:47 AM »
Folks,

We used these lights in S. Texas for hogs.  Just attach the magnetized light to the bottom of the feeder and switch it to steady light (not flashing).  It puts out a nice glow that lets you see the critters really well for night hunting.

Remember these Fred??

Sure do.

I already bought 4 of 'em (and a new shotgun)...just in case.

Did you use the amber or red?  Did they work the very first night or did the hogs have to get used to them?

The red.

They worked pretty well the first night, but I have to qualify that with the fact that the hunt guide had been using them for a while.

All manner of creatures seemed content to ignore the light when under the feeder.  Deer, rabbits, racoons, and pigs.  The pigs scattered when I flashed my night blaster, but came back almost immediately when I turned it off.

I don't think the pigs care as long as you don't startle them the way a spot-light does by just suddenly coming on.

These battery powered LED lights don't throw a lot of light, but it's enough so that you can see silouettes at the feeder and out a few feet.  (4) AA batteries and they burn bright for about 12-hours.  That was plenty long enough for an all-nighter.

I found them to be a very effective tool.

Hmmm..., I should get paid for an endorsement like this... :?
