Any advice out there for afternoon hunts? I've been hunting the mornings, but it seems there are too many hunters. This morning I had a bird coming in hot on my calling. Had him about 50-60 yards out, gobbling on top of my hen yelps. ready to nail this bird, when I hear "crunch-crunch" on the leaves on a logging road to my right. I turn to look, and there comes a knucklehead hunter walking up the road. He had to have heard the bird gobbling not even 60 yards from him. Walking like he was just out for a stroll. I was ticked off, to say the least. That bird saw him, shut up and left in a hurry. Never saw him again.
Anyway, that's why I'm thinking of the afternoons. Where do the birds go then? Do they respond to calls like in the morning?
