Polaris service
« on: April 06, 2003, 05:35:52 PM »
We bought another polaris (330 Trail Boss) for my wife. That makes us 3 new Polaris this year. This 330 made a little noise in the transmission when it was in neutrul. I took it back and they are going to put a brand new transmissionin it Tuesday. No questions. So far service is #1, no questions or hassles, just service.

that sounds good, hope they continue the good service throughout the warranty period.  Does Polaris have an extended warranty option that you can purchase?   Did they say what was wrong with the transmission that it made noise while in neutral?

They do have an extended warrenty but it has not been offered to me yet, I suspect its because we haven't had them long enough. I'm not sure what happened with this transmission. It made a very slight noise that sounded like the automatic transmission was just trying to engage or not completly releasing at an idle. It was test drove before being bought but the noise was to slight to hear at the dealership because of highway noise. My wife could hear it but I had a hard time hearing it. When we took it back the mech listened to it with a Doctor's heart/lung listening device, (the one I cain't spell) that was modified with a long metal tube. He said it could be heard and took it in right away. He never has said, nor have I asked, what was wrong but Polaris told him to replace it with a new one. I guess things slip past quality control at Polaris too. I'm still impressed.

You need to ask about the extended warranty if you are interested in buying it.  Every dealership I've ever dealt with sells them to you any time from the day of initial purchase to the last day of the regular warranty.  Usually after the basic warranty expires though, it is too late to buy.  I think it would be worth the few hundred dollars they usually cost, if you plan on keeping the quad for any number of years.
