How to get PRS mould!!
« on: February 05, 2003, 03:32:21 AM »
Gentlemen,
Here's the deal. The mould has been ordered. I have already paid the 100.00 set up fee. I spoke with the mould maker and he requested that you NOT call him!!!! He will be making extras I told him he could easily sell another 20. The moulds go for Lees retail of 50.00 each. They are 6 cavity,I am geussing that if you call the secretary and give her your credit card they will make one for you as well. This was done at 8:00 a.m. this morning. Just be sure and tell them that you want the 454 250 rf custom. As I already stated the 100.00 set up is already paid so I don't see why they won't make as many as you guys order. I would have done this differently but the only other way was for me to pay for all of them up front(way too expensive).
Tell them you want the same mould as ordered by Dennis Holmbeck
Regards,
Dennis

Placed my order this morning, $50.00 plus shipping.  According to the nice lady I spoke to, I was the first to order (after Dennis, that is).

For all the interest expressed here and on the SASS, I'm surprised no one else has ordered.

Dennis, thanks for doing this, and how do you want to go about defraying the cost of the setup fee?

Thanks
Adrien

Well maybe Pards. MAYBE!

Not to toss cold water on the project but I just got off the phone from a long discussion with Pat. He and John Lee are the two these kinda deals are generally run past.

Pat was not aware of another order of these moulds being placed. Said he would look into it. He also said this ain't the way Lee does the Custom Mould orders. Shipping is included in the $100 set up fee he says BUT ONLY to the single one person who pays it. They don't "at least usually" get into the business of shipping custom moulds out on an individual basis to other than the individual who pays the $100 set up.

Pat said they did this some time back and it got to where it wasn't profitable for them to make the multiple shipments to lots of buyers that way. So even tho you've made your call the orders may or may not happen. He indicated that most likely they will be calling Dennis to tell him that for others to tack onto his order he will have to be the central contact point on this and collect the money and accept and reship the moulds.

Dunno how it will work out. I did my best to convince Pat to add the mould to the regular product line. He agreed to speak with John Lee about doing that but no promises made

Questions to Dennis and others who've called also.

Who did you speak with?

Has John Lee been personally involved yet?

Well, like a dummy I didn't get her name; she made it quite clear, though, that the shipping charge would be in addition to the $100 already paid by Dennis, and that the mold maker would be making additional molds, which is what was going to be shipped out.

She didn't mention Mr Lee, or anyone else but the mold maker, by name, but she did 'have to check with [her] boss,' to ensure that they 'still take orders like this.'

I also asked her what the time frame was like, she didn't know off hand what that was, but said she'd look into it and call back, which she did an hour or so later.

If it doesn't work out, then oh well, I'll just have to spend more for the mold; either way, I want one.

Maybe John Lee the company owner is the "boss" she went and spoke with. Obviously wasn't Pat since he wasn't aware of the new order on them.

Pat told me that there were several other custom orders ahead of this one and that it likely would be at least two weeks before they could get started on it.

Hi guys,
I don't know why Lee would not make and ship you a mould if you pay shipping charges. What I was told was that they do not like to make custom moulds unless they are paid for up front. So if all of these are pre-paid I don't know what the problem is. That is why I ended up doing it this way. I didn't want to front upwards of 1000.00 for these things. As for the 100.00, I'll eat that ( I really wanted one anyway!!). If any one else has spoken with Lee please let me know, as no one from there has called me back.

Yep, the delivery time I was quoted was minimum three to four weeks before they were ready to ship, and that the mould shop was seriously booked right now...

I've not had any further communication, though.

I spoke to a lady, no name,  when I told her it was a custom mold ordered by 107ch (by name) she ask if he had paid the setup fee, I told her yes, she ask his zip code, I have no idea, told me to hold on, left, returned, said "Ok, how do you want to pay for it?"

I was told that shipping was supposed to only be $6 for each mould on this special order deal by Pat when he confirmed that John Lee had approved it.

I rekkon they charged Parsons more 'cause he was shipping the handles too.  I buy my handles form Midway as theyare quite a bit less expensive there.

Slim, they told me at Lee that the handles were $17 and some change plus the extra on the shipping,  I didn't think that too bad, but what's the price on'em at Midway?
