I know Barnes bullets are overkill for deer, but does the XLC coating really work? Will it, in time, gum up your barrel. Does it fowl more or less than the Triple Shock?

In my experience it's very inconsistent. Some times it just flecks off and other times it sticks quite fiercely to the bullets. When it flecks it makes a real mess. I look on it more as a gimmick than a real advantage. It does seem to build up in the barrel at least to some extent.

I use them in my 300 Win Mag. I have never had a mess or fouled barrel because of them. My accuracy is just as good as the triple shocks or the X bullets.
There is not such thing as overkill in my opinion, dead is dead.
