tumbler media additive, any suggestions???
« on: April 05, 2005, 04:36:41 AM »
I'm looking for something to add to my media to recharge it so it pollishes better.  I use walnut shells. I have added flitz brass caridge polish for tumblers. it works good but is quite expensive I was hoping to find something I can get at a hardware store or something a little cheaper.  Also how long does your media ussually last? any tips would be appreciated.

I use Lyman "Turbo Charge" to recharge my media.
Quite a bit cheaper than Flitz !
Go MAGNUM/MAX LOAD or GO HOME !
Always use MUCH more gun than the minimum required to do the job.

I use the Frankford Arsenal polish additive from Midway. I just use a few teaspoons full per run. I don't really measure, just guess. It smells good too! Like oranges.

I use Cabelas brand.  Works great.  About 1 cap full does the job.  Someone once told me, when I was about 8 . . . not recently  , that pool cue chalk smelled like bananas.  All I got for sniffing it was a blue nose when they pushed my hand.  My cleaning media has lasted for over a year.  But I have probably only cleaned 500 brass in it.

Long

Throw in a used dryer sheet with each load.  Someone posted this about six months ago, and it works great.  The dryer sheet grabs a lot of dirt, and extends the life of the media.  It also cuts down (sometimes eliminating) the crud on the bowl.

I use the Dillon additive, one or two capfuls every 5 runs or so. Works well.
