New Encore
« on: April 08, 2005, 05:49:30 AM »
I'm getting ready to buy a new Encore and am looking for some recommendations of where to buy from. I plan on getting the Encore frame, rubber grips, a 14" 22-250 barrel, and a scope. This is for varmit hunting and long-range plinking practice. Any suggestions?

I would consider Ed's (don't hav the Ph # handy) or any of the mail order companies, Natchez, etc.  For varmint hunting or LR plinking I would suggest the 3-12 Burris LER w/Target Turrets (I would get one with the ballistic plex reticle too--personal preference).
What part of Ok you  live in?

Thanks! I'm in Tulsa Oklahoma so I'm easily within driving distance looks like. I didn't know about the ballistic plex reticle offering on the scopes. Definitely going for that.

I talked to a guy down here who had an Encore with 30-06 barrel and scope, and although I didn't get to shoot it, I did get to handle it. First time I have ever seen a TC. I instantly fell in love with the gun so I'm gearing up with one, and want to make sure I get all the right stuff. It looks like the Bullberry barrels are the ones to get, and Leupold or Burris on the scopes. I'll probably get the 3-12X one... that looks really sweet.

Thanks all!

I have four of the Burris 3-12 LER's with the BP Reticle--I really do like them.  For LR range shooting they are the best when it comes to factory LER scopes.

You might want to check out this guy as far as barrels. http://www.ottllc.com/
He's making me a .222 barrel for my Contender  and a .218 bee barrel for my Encore.
Then you have http://www.olegeorgiajim.com/  for grips and forearms

Ditto on those two guys--they both do great work.  I wouldn't hesitate to use either one of them.

Wow... some really good info! Thank you all!

I ran across this on the ottlc.com site link you gave me. I have to say this is the absolute coolest setup I think I've seen. That is an awesome looking barrel. (I believe it's a 16" 30-06 bbl.) I HAVE to get one of these!

Most of the barrels I've seen were fairly average looking, but this really caught my eye. Are there more cool barrels like this out there? Absolutely awesome.
