Mostly it means adjusting the "weight" required to make it go off. Manufacturers usually set them fairly high (5+lbs?), so the gun won't go off too easily (a safety/liability concern for them). Most shooters want it lighter (yet not so light as to be "hair trigger" unsafe). Many triggrs can also be adjusted for "creep" (extent of motion before the trigger releases) and "overtravel" (motion after release). In general, a lot of motion (or force required) in pulling the trigger can throw off your aim; so folks want to minimize it all around. The adjustment is usually done by 1 or 2 screws up in the trigger-guard area; and what you're primarily changing is how the sears, which connect the trigger to the action, contact each other

It really depends on what gun you are talking about. Some have a single pull-weight screw, some have a single adjustment screw for pull length, some have several adjustments for first stage, second stage, weight, lateral/longitudinal positioning, sear height, overtravel, etc.
If you are refering to the 160 in your other post, if it has the later modular trigger it has a pull weight adjustment, an overtravel adjustment and usually a sear engagement height adjustment.

acculaly, i was refering to a gamo shadow 1000, i think it's two stage. what does that mean?

I know nothing about this rifle (and little about others, LOL) but 2 stage adjustable is something like this.

2 stage= Your trigger has a certain amount of travel at a given poundage until it hit's a second "stage" where it's on the wall, as in it then acts just like a single stage trigger i.e. apply more preasure and bang. On most factory set 2 stage triggers you can feel this "wall" and you can apply the first stage of presure and then apply the 2nd stage (most of the time dramitacly lighter) presure to make the triger release.

When you have a fully adjustable 2 stage "the world is your oyster". You can adjust it any way you like. You can "take up" all of the first stage to make it act exactly like a single stage trigger. You can shorten and adjust the presure of the first stage. You can adjust the presure needed to set off the second stage where it can not even be felt. It's all up to you!
