It's not possible to reload rimfire cases and even if you could why would you want to ?

On the contrary ... it is possible ... not really that hard if you have the capability to prime (reprime actually) But... you must orient the cases to "strike" in a different spot for ignition and as Krochus has implied it is not very practical IMHO ... Heck the apparatus for repriming alone would probably cost what all the Rimfires we shoot in a year or 2 do.    Marty

The set-up cost to do so for a individual would outweigh the cost of a lifetime of shooting, if it was doable on a cost basis it would have already been done, not the first time this subject has been discused in over 40 yrs. of playing with the things.    JIM

Oh heck, let's just think it through for a while and see what we can come up with. First I'd make a mold of a 22 long rifle case and make a casting that would serve as a case. I would then modify that casting to accommodate a Remington Etronx electronic primer.  About ten of these cases should be enough.   I would then modify the gun to detonate this type of primer.  I would then have a custom mould and sizer made for 22 LR bullets, probably something odd in size like 43 grains instead of 40.  Because of the anticipated volume of shooting, a single cavity mould will be sufficient.  I would cast my bullets from wheelweights (for economy, of course).  These bullets would then be moly coated.  My starting load would be 7 tenths of a grain of bullseye and I'd work up from there.  

There! all that's left to do is to take a trip to the range in my homemade automobile and we'll see how it all works.

But seriously, the bugaboo with the concept is priming. We take for granted the complexity of primers because we buy them already made.  We can't really make our own without elaborate and precise industrial processes.

have had a few people asking for 22lr frangibles and cant seem to source, so the obvious is.............if you cant find it make it!

years ago an outfit called Sarco would sell PRIMED 22 rf cases .People would buy them and custom load target ammo for much better results than avaliable factory fodder.A fiend of mine bought several 1000's of them. He spent hours sorting them by weight, length and visual defects.
After working up the best load he could, his groups were about 1/2-2/3 the size of factory ammo.Modern TARGET ammo is about this accurate with out all the work. It is probably cheaper also!

boneguru: For the price of a "big box" of econo 22lr's at the local "Mart"  I would simply pull the projectile and put in your "experimental" one . Sort of try out the concept before learning to manufacture/re-manufacture LR cases.. Just a thought . The "healed"  projectile may be a prob. tho!!    Marty

You may want to try outlandsales.com too. They're in the US and they stock a pretty wide variety of 22 ammo, including specialty ammo.
