finally set up my T/C 204 barrel with a Elite 4200 4-16x50.
Shot it and was not impressed. I floated the barrel, and am in the process of breaking it in. I was cleaning after every shot then went to every 3 shots. Used solvent and copper remover, then EEZOX (recommeded by Bullburry). I could not get a decent group to save my soul if I didn't clean after EVERY shot. I hope this is not typical, or I will be selling soon. It was a bit breazy coming from my backside, but I can't see that making a 4" difference a 100yds. Any similar reports???

I have a .308 Win, 15" Encore barrel that suffered the same kind of shooting patterns,
not groups. I sent it back to T/C, and they re-crowned it, and now it shoots factory
ammo 1.5 MOA. I have yet to try load development for it, but I feel fairly
confident that I can get this to shoot 1 MOA, now with the new crown. I don't
know if this is your barrel's problem, but before I'd burn up too much ammo, I'd
call T/C and ask what they test fire for ammo, in a .204 barrel. Get some, and if
it doesn't group, send the barrel back. This cleared up my crappy shooting
T/C barrel to the point that it is acceptable now.

I'm not sure what could be the problem with your Encore, but I've been very impressed with the .204 out of my Ruger 77. Once I got the scope dialed in, I was able to cover most 3-shot groups with a dime using the factory 32's.

I am going to try the 32gr and see if they fly a bit better. Remingtons 40s flew about the same.

I found that my custom Tac 20 (also a .204) T/C barrel does NOT like any
40gr bullets, while it will consistently shoot 1/4" groups with the "old" 33gr
VMax bullets, along with some custom 35gr bullets.

danno - truth be known if I had to do it over again I would have purchased a high end custom in Tac20 instead of the .204. With the Tac you have unlimited brass and no corporate rip off to force owners into buying overpriced loaded ammo. Check prices on loaded ammo, components and brass for a .204.
Even making up brass from .222 Rem mag is a joke. The brass is crap and not worth the trouble. I have two hundred pieces of it and every one has neck wall thickness variations of more than .005" per side.
