Hi
which one is the best choice for using when reloading with reduced loads ? isn't that better with mags when a 3030 case is only loaded with about 10 gr powder to assure better ignition?

I use standard primers with unique and 2400 with excellant results.

I have never understood the reduced load theory. I buy a gun to shoot the round it was designed for at full power. I practice with my guns as I would be shooting them for hunting. I don't want to have to adjust my scope going from practice loads (reduced loads) to my hunting load.

I know I did not answer your question and this is no way a flame to you. I just don't understand the theory behind it.

Standard primer - Cast bullet - Unique - .30-30

Works for me.

It is a great joy to plinking with my 3030s a ful load costs more and is needlless more powerful. my eyes are great i don't use scopesight i just regulate the ironsight

I just like full power loads myself. But I hope you get the information you need.

You are probably concerned about igniting the powder thoroughly. One approach is to put a filler in the case to keep the powder close to the primer. Or, you can tip the rifle back to position the powder charge just before you shoot. I would use a standard primer.

I'm shooting a peep sighted 45-120-3¼" rechambered H&R Buffalo Classic using 41-43grs of XMP5744 which is an AA recommended load, powder position makes no difference in this huge case which is less than 50% full using CCI 250 mag rifle primers and no filler. I get 1½-2" 100yd groups regardless of whether the powder is in the front or rear of the case, or just level. The "little" cartridge on the left in the pic is a 45-70.
