I got my first .22 LR single shot when I was 13 years old. I spent about every free min. I had in the summer time walking the fields hunting groundhogs. I did take a few at over 200 yrds. with it, but not many for the amount of ammo I fired. I did take alot of them from 125 to 150 yrds. but most of these were taken by setting up on some holes and zeroing my rifle to hit at that range then waiting on the groundhogs. A well placed shot will kill them quickly at these ranges, but that means eather the brain, about a 1 dia. target, or the chest, about a 2 1/2 in. target. There is alot better ammo out now than there was back then. Most of the Hiper velosity ammo is not verry accurate though. I have played around with Velositators ?? though and them seem to be the most accurate of the fast .22 LR ammo. The main thing to rember when hunting with a .22 rimfire is get as close as you can. Good luck with your hunting.
