From my understanding, Jeb has already done everything within his gubernatorial powers and congress went beyond theirs in meddling in state judicial proceedings.

Ian, there are news reports saying that Jeb went way beyond his powers. If the reports are true, Jeb sent state cops to bluff the local cops. The locals wouldn't bluff.

BAMS is having computer and personal problems, however; I have read, more than once, his posting of being involved in Christian ministry's to those incarcerated.

No reason for the BTT. If Bams wanted to elaborate, he would have. No need to goad him. His business is just that, his business, not yours, mine, or any one elses. POWDERMAN.  :?  :?  :?  :?  :?  :?

Dali Llama suggest that others merely allow BamBams to answer for himself, rather than have fan club respond on his behalf.  If BamBams have nothing to hide, that should cause no consternation for anyone, remark Dali. :-)

I don't know if this will close this topic but  i will try to post this again, did not go thru  the first time so here goes. The way Terry Schiavo was allowed to die was wrong, there is no two ways about it. For the court system to take the words of one man and not allow any other evidence to be heard, i just can't figure.  As has been said by other people if a convicted murderer who is on death row has new evidence intoduced the courts are obligated to look at it to see if it has any bearing to the case. There was alot of evidence that the courts refused to listen too, again they just took the word of her husband  without any proof if that is what Terry really wanted. Thats my last 2 cents on this subject.

The way Terry Schiavo was allowed to die was wrong, there is no two ways about it. For the court system to take the words of one man and not allow any other evidence to be heard, i just can't figure.

There were three witnesses; Michael, Scott, and Joan Schiavo. There was a good deal of other evidence heard and evaluated. The Schindlers had the opportunity to testify, but did not.

As has been said by other people if a convicted murderer who is on death row has new evidence intoduced the courts are obligated to look at it to see if it has any bearing to the case.

Then they were wrong.  Once a case is decided, new evidence is not admissable except under very special circumstances that that did not occur in this case.

There was alot of evidence that the courts refused to listen too, again they just took the word of her husband without any proof if that is what Terry really wanted.

Once again,  there were three witnesses to Terri's wishes at the trial. There was not a single witness that Terri had ever expressed a wish to be kept alive at all costs. I know of no evidence submitted for the trial that the judge refused to hear. He heard both sides, weighed the evidence and rendered his verdict. Then the trial was OVER.

Our system, quite sensibly, does not permit sore losers to keep coming up with "new evidence" and getting new trials until they get the result they want. You get one bite at the apple.

I felt like writing that post, but you did better than I would.  It seems that the truth about the judicial proceedings and how they are conducted has been completely distorted.

Here's a quote from the intial appeal:

Quote
The testimony in this case establishes that Theresa was very young and very healthy when this tragedy struck. Like many young people without children, she had not prepared a will, much less a living will. She had been raised in the Catholic faith, but did not regularly attend mass or have a religious advisor who could assist the court in weighing her religious attitudes about life-support methods. Her statements to her friends and family about the dying process were few and they were oral. Nevertheless, those statements, along with other evidence about Theresa, gave the trial court a sufficient basis to make this decision for her.
