Does anyone know if a Remington Model 7600 in a 30-06 can be rechambered for a different caliber?  What can it be rechambered into ?

Thanks

The 2 most obvious are the .35 Whelen and the European equal the 9.3x62.

Could it be chambered in a .300 Savage or smaller?

Thanks,

coyote trapper 1928,
The .300Savage is a forerunner of the .308Winchester which is a short-action cartridge compared to the 30-06 cartridge...still a .308" bore/bullet, but requires a shorter bolt/chamber.

You could rebarrel the 7600 to 308(or the 300 Savage).  It would require a magazine change as well as the barrel..  GunParts lists both the barrels and the magazine assemblies.  You should check the headspace and adjust if needed at installation...
