Hi Bill,

Mike Stimson, president, is working to get it back up.  Somehow, the domain registration expired.  I'm not sure why.

On another subject, the JCSA Pistol Silhouette Club is having a Big Bore/Half Scale match at the Josephine County Sportsman Association this Sunday, April 17.  Take exit 61 off I-5 and follow the signs to "Sportsman's Park".  Please come visit.

Domain registrations expire ONLY when ya don't pay the bills. It ain't forever and ya have to pay to renew it periodically.

Just doing the basics is even getting tough for the IHMSA.  They spend too much time focused on changing the rules and not enough on simply running the association.    I received an AIR records form the other day from a member.  I haven't been a member for over a year plus none of the scores he reported even qualified for record status.  I am going to send it back to the man with a bit of explaination.  Obviously who ever is his Match Director doesn't have a clue.

IHMSA Board did not actually have control over either the .org or .com domains. Both have been turned over to IHMSA and there should be no further interruptions.Blair was attempting to fix what people have been bitching about for a long time. This had nothing to do with the Web Page(s).
K2, sorry that you are a "former" member. We have fun at our local matches regardless of what goes on at HQ. As long as a firearm is safe and an entry doesn't involve a guy wearing a thong, we let them shoot in some class even if we have to make one up.

HI Phil

Putting a smiley face on every mistake doesn't get you where you want to go.

I am on several boards of directors and the most effective are those that ask "Are we doing a good job" and evaluate their performance.

IHMSA's Board has focused too much energy on the Icing (the International match) and virtually none on the cake (the small local matches).  There is no MD training and this is why the rank and file don't know what makes up a Record score etc.

Silhouette is a fun social activity not an overly technical competition.  Getting back to the basics is what is needed and our local group did that and shoot just as often as when sanctioned but without the nit pick and constantly having to interpret some new "rule".

The basics for the IHMSA board are living up to their Bylaws or changing them so they can live up to them.  Pretty simple stuff really.  There needs to be a chain of command which hasn't existed as far as I can tell and a good training program for MD's.  Focus on this and the rest will take care of itself.

Hi Aarne

Our main concerrn was keeping our local matches in operation and staying sanctioned was actually hurting participation.  The sport became too specialized over time.  If it takes longer than 5 minutes to explain the basics you lose most new folks interest.  We were getting too small to cover the costs.  Some simple effecive changes lowered our costs and made holding the matches easier to do.

Silhouette is a good game and now for our local group it is more enjoyable as well.  We are more than happy to accomodate anyone who wants to jump thru all the hoops to be sanctioned but it will not come at the cost of driving the fun out.  The basics are still there, 5 shots in 2 minutes, distances and animals are the same, but we don't care if someone has a hex head screw in place of a slotted one there is no advantage to one over the other in terms of score, and if a fellow needs 7 or even 10 shots to sight in a new load we allow that as long as it doesn't interfer with the flow of the match.  Fun is where it is at.

If you are ever in the Great Land look us up, after the match we might even take you out to catch a 30 or 50 lb King Salmon if they are running.  In a year or so we are even going to have a 1000 yard range for hosee who are interested in realllllllly long range!

Kelly... Would you mind listing the corporations upon which you sit on the Board of Directors?  I would be very interested in deleting them from my portfoilo.  Regards...g...CEO Daytona Inc.

They are 501(C) (3)'s Hammer, so they wouldn't be in your portfolio.  IHMSA is also a 501(C)(3) and it isn't in your portfolio either, so was there a point to your message?
