Griz Suggestions/Hints
« on: July 19, 2003, 07:41:51 PM »
OK Guys,

Here we go.  Good news -- I've been here over a year so I can look for a griz.  Bad news -- I'm halfway through my tour so I've only got this Fall.  I deploy this coming winter/spring.

I'm considering a backpack hunt in Area 13.  Any suggestions?

Consider Mulchatna river.

If you can swing an air charter into the Mulchatna River area -you might give it some thought.  Just talked to a guy tonight who was up there last week.  He says folks who really know the country are noticing a lot of bears in the area.  There are some air taxis in Anchorage,  Kenai/Soldotna, and Iliamna that serve the area - Iliamna Air Taxi is a good one.  Haven't checked the regs but I think the seasons have been liberalized in unit 9B and 17.
