grip question
« on: March 23, 2005, 02:27:35 PM »
I have an encore pistol with the wood grips and they are kinda small for me . I have seen some grips for the encore that are called the walnut competitor grip. I was wondering if anybody has tried one of these and if they were any bigger around.

That is all I use on mine and I shoot calibers all the way up to 45-70.  They are a lot bigger than the old solid wood grips if that is what your gun has.  I had a set of the solid woods ones once and they were rather small.  Sometimes you can pick them up on E-bay in new condition (take-offs) for not much money, even though they are not that much from Ed or elsewhere.

I didn't think the competitor grip was available for the Encore.

I thought the competitor grip was for the Contender only???

This flu must have me in worst shape than I thought.  I replied to this post last night about liking the Competitior grips and totally missed that it was for an Encore.  As the others have stated, the Competitor grip is for the Contender.

Thanks for a reply. In Midsouth shooters supply ,2005 spring master catalog, page 47 they show the walnut competitor grip for the encore pistol.

So what's the consensus guys?

Is this a rubber grip for the Encore priced about $20 or is it a combo wood and synthetic together?

Can't tell from the Mid-South catalog and it's too late to call them.

I have the rubber grip but would be interested in the combo if that is what it is.

Thanks,

Mike
